Does God identify us by our name?

Image
The Bible mentions a character whose name is not given. However, God worked wonders through him, displaying signs of His power. This man was known as the ‘man of God from Judah’. We may wonder if God withheld his name because he failed Him, or if the title God gave him was more significant than his name. Sometimes, we are unaware of God’s plans, and we may fail Him by not understanding His full plan. But we must ensure that we follow the right path, based on all that we know about God. Jeroboam thought to himself, “The kingdom is now likely to revert to the house of David. If these people go up to offer sacrifices at the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem, they will again give their allegiance to their lord, Rehoboam king of Judah. They will kill me and return to King Rehoboam.”   1 Kings 12:26,27 Jeroboam, who was chosen by God to be the king of Israel, rebelled against Rehoboam, the king of Judah. He was insecure and feared that his people would pledge their allegiance to Judah, es

Sipping from the cup of Jesus..

There’s always a question of who is superior among people. From the very beginning, this question has led to many fights. Even the first murder happened because of this. Cain killed Abel because God favored Abel’s sacrifice. There’s always a question of jealousy and superiority. Even Jesus’s disciples fought among themselves to find out who was the greatest among them. And all those times, Jesus advised them to serve others in order to become great in the kingdom of God. Jesus, who used to rebuke the disciples when they showed a lack of faith, did not scold them for fighting but instead tried to make them understand. Maybe he understands the thirst of humans to become something great. Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him. “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.” “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said

People we meet during our troubled times..

Image
We all have troubles and problems to face in our lives. Maybe these problems are what make our lives more exciting. Sometimes, problems arise due to our own foolishness or carelessness, while at other times, they may occur to teach us important lessons. Regardless of the problems we face, our Father in heaven takes care of everything. “ My Help comes from the Lord who made heaven and the earth. ” We need to be careful where we place our hope and refuge. Our hope should be in God himself because “ It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. ” However, God does not always perform supernatural miracles; instead, He may prepare some people to help us. Let’s see some people David met when he faced one of greatest trouble he faced. Absalom, David’s son revolted against his father, and David had to flee the palace barefoot. People who take advantage of the situation Then the king said to Ziba, “All that belonged to Mephibosheth is now yours.” “I humbly bow,” Ziba sa

The builders in the Kingdom of God..

We all want to serve God, and we know that there is a price we must pay. We will have to sacrifice many things, leave our comfort zones. And we do expect some reward in return. But what if we don’t get the reward we are seeking? What if the things we work for never bear fruit or we don’t see results? “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much son of hell as you are.” Mathew 23:15 Jesus here warns us about the Pharisees and hypocrites who travel around the world to convert people to God, only to make them “twice as much a child of hell” as they are. The reason for this is their hypocrisy, as they do not practice what they preach. Their converts are thus doomed to follow in their hypocritical footsteps. Although the Pharisees and other religious leaders may have the zeal to spread God’s word, they lack the commitment to live by it themselves. They are more c

Miracles that never happened..

Image
Life is said to be full of miracles and surprises. But do we truly believe in them, or do we see everything as a conspiracy and fabrication? As Christians or believers, we believe in the miracles performed by Jesus and the apostles as written in the bible. However, when someone claims that a pastor has raised someone from the dead, we may find it hard to accept. This raises the question of whether we truly believe in miracles? Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgement than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths.   If the miracles that were performed in Sodom, it would have remained to

United we stand, united we fall..

Image
Actually, the phrase is “United we stand, divided we fall”. But in our Christian life this phrase can be little altered to “United we stand, united we fall”. This is because our fall depends on, whom we are uniting with. If the person you are united with, fall then there’s a high chance that you will fall too. But the Israelites acted unfaithfully in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel. Joshua 7:1 God had commanded Israelites not to take any gold or silver when they plunder their enemies. All these things must be devoted to God and should not be taken for themselves. But a man named Achan took some of them and hid them. God’s anger burned against the whole Israelites. And they were defeated by their enemies in the next battle. Achan robbed Israelites of their victory. Because of one man’s mistake, one whole nation had to face its consequences. Why

The fragmented revelations of God.

Image
We all wonder about God’s revelation. From the revelation of end times to the revelation of things that God intends to do in our life. Some people find this revelation very simple and easy while some find it very complex. God’s way of revealing things is very different and people’s way of perceiving it, is also unusual. Identifying Jesus as the Son of God and savior is itself a great revelation. Let’s look at some of the ways in which Jesus revealed himself to the people. Finally they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.” The man replied, “He is a prophet.” John 9:17 Jesus’ disciples found a man blind from birth. And they wondered who sinned, that this man was blind. Jesus answered that it was to display the work of God. He spat on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes and asked him to wash in the pool of Siloam. This blind man did not see who healed him. Blind man was further blinded by the mud

From the land of Ham to the land of Canaan [Part -2]..

Image
God prepared a Goshen in the land of Ham. Even If we make our bed in the depths, He is there. He knows our coming in and going out. He would help us and love us even if we live where satan has his throne. For all He cares are the people who have remained faithful to His name. But living in Goshen has its own problem. Goshen’s comfort vs Canaan’s promise. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat round pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you brought us into this dessert to starve this entire assembly to death. Exodus 16:3 God heard their cries and remembered the covenant He made with Abraham and decided to rescue the people living in Goshen. He brought them out of Egypt. But they rebelled against God. They grumbled when there was shortage of food, and water. They always remembered the comfort of Egypt. They loved Egypt so much that they even preferred the graves of that land. They were ready to serve Egyptians as slaves

From the land of Ham to the land of Canaan. [Part 1]..

Image
We are proud of certain things in our life. We hate, when people question our dignity and integrity. We may boast about the times when we successfully strode the path that others failed to tramp. But sometimes the situations in our lives forces us to compromise with certain things. It forces us to gulp all our pride and surrender before the situations. Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham. Psalm 105:23 Israel were proud of many things. They took pride in calling themselves descendants of Abraham. They looked down upon the gentiles and uncircumcised. Even today they are proud of their heritage and would even fight with big nations to defend their country and their legacy. Such people had to live in the land of Ham for more than four-hundred years. Ham was the son of Noah who was cursed by his father. He said, “Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.” Genesis 10:25 Israel, a proud nation who were blessed by God were li

When God remembers His covenant..

Image
We all know our God is a faithful God. We know He will fulfill all His promises and covenants.   But the thing we don’t know and the thing we all want to know is His time in which He will do His things. And the beauty of that time is He will do the things swiftly. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. Exodus 2:24 There’s a time when God remembers His covenant. Moreover, the groaning of His people forced Him to remember the covenant made to Father Abraham. When God considers His covenant, people forget to keep their side of that covenant. When Moses was called to rescue the people of Israel. God showed Him some of the great miracles. He instructed him how to speak to the Pharoah, how to convince and show the great signs to the people of Israel. But when Moses gets ready to go to Egypt, God decides to kill him. At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut

Are you zealous for God..

Image
The zeal towards God defines our relationship with God. People who are zealous for God mostly have a good relationship with the Almighty. Greater the anointing of God greater will be the zeal for God. If one loses the anointing, he will eventually lose his zeal. The zeal that comes under pressure. Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the Lord will act on our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.” 1 Samuel 14:6   When Philistines tried to defeat Israel, they came with a plan to stop the production of weapons in the land of Israel. Somehow, they brought all the blacksmiths of Israel to Philistine. Only two swords were found in Israel. One was with King Saul and the other was with Prince Jonathan. For many days Philistine threatened Israel and brave soldiers went into hiding. They hid themselves in caves and holes of mountains. Jonathan got frustrated by the daily

Nahash who reminds us of our dark pasts..

Image
We all have some dark pasts in our life. No one is perfect in this world. We all make mistakes. Sometimes these mistakes may cost us nothing and other times it may cost us costly. When it costs us dearly, we tend to remember it all the time. We wish that we could have changed our past. Ultimately all bad things that happen to us, we tend to think it’s because of that mistake. But there is some happy news to all those who believe in Christ. But Nahash the Ammonite replied, “I will make a treaty with you only on the condition that I gouge out the right eye of every one of you and so bring disgrace on all Israel.”   1 Samuel 11:2 These are the words of Nahash the King of Ammonites to the elders of Jabesh Gilead. Nahash besieged the city of Jabesh Gilead but the elders of that city, requested him for a treaty. They were ready to surrender. But this King Nahash wanted more than just surrender. He wanted to bring disgrace to the house of Israel. Nahash word means ‘Serpent’ in Hebrew. I

Some distress calls to God. Psalm 107 [Part 4]..

Image
Others went out on the sea in the ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. They saw the works of the Lord, his wonderful deeds in the deep. For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. Psalm 107:23-26 In this scenario the people are not going in search of any city that they can dwell on, neither they like sitting in darkness nor do they do anything foolish. But here they are going on the sea which is said to be mighty. They are merchants, and they are taking some risks to trade of something valuable. While travelling they saw the wonderful deeds of God. His creation could be seen as they travel on their ship. But when High waves and tempest were stirred, they got into trouble and they made that distress call to God. We are the merchants of God. We live on the mighty waters. This world is a mighty water which sometimes remain calm and sometimes become vio

Some distress calls to God. Psalm 107 [Part 3]..

Image
Some became fools through their rebellious way and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. Psalm 107:17-19 The third scenario in this Psalm is about some fools who got in trouble because of their folly. They rebelled and made their way to the gates of death. They were not fools from the start but they became one. Some things in their life turned them into fools. For only a fool would go against God. The verse says ‘ They Loathed all food. ’, Food is something that gives energy to our body. It gives us the strength to do each work. And here, the fool hates the food. The very thing that helps him to live, he hates. Such are the signs of a fool. A fool won’t learn from his mistakes. Let’s look at the life of Samson. He was chosen by God to destroy Philistines. He was told not to use razor on his head. But He became a fool when he told t
